Claremont Kiwanis Scholarship Programs
California-Nevada-Hawaii (CNH) District Scholarships
Available to both Key Club and Circle K members from throughout the California-Nevada-Hawaii District. Applicants submit their applications directly to the CNH Foundation online without going through the club. The application deadline is usually in February. Stan Larson Scholarship (Kiwanis Club of Claremont Foundation). This scholarship program is administered by the club’s foundation and is named for Stan Larson, a former editor of the Claremont Courier and a longtime member of Claremont Kiwanis. The club awards new scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Claremont High School and/or San Antonio High School. These scholarships are renewed annually for a period of up to four years, provided the recipient stays in school, pursues a full-time accredited course of study, and provides documentation of that course of study and enrollment for each year. The annual award is $750.00 making the full value of the scholarship $3,000 for a 4-year bachelor’s degree program. Most students complete the 4-year bachelor’s degree program at a single college or university. Students are also eligible for the scholarship if they attend a community college for up to 2 years and then complete their program at another college or university. Applicants for the Larson Scholarship need not be members of Key Club, but membership is considered a plus. In choosing a Larson Scholar, service to the community and/or school as well as academic achievement are the primary criteria. The club’s Scholarship Committee determines which students best fit the criteria through the application and the interview process. The application period has closed. The Claremont Kiwanis Career-Technical Scholarship (Kiwanis Club of Claremont Foundation). This scholarship program is administered by the club’s foundation. The club awards the scholarship to graduating seniors from Claremont High School and/or San Antonio High School. The scholarship is awarded to students who will be pursuing a career technical degree at a community college or at an accredited career-technical program. These scholarships are renewed annually for a period of up to 2 years, provided the recipient stays in school, is a full-time student, pursues an accredited career-technical degree, and provides documentation of that course of study and enrollment for each year. The annual award is $750 per year making the full value of the scholarship $1,500 for a two-year career-technical degree program. Applicants for the Career-Technical Scholarship need not be members of Key Club, but membership is considered a plus. In choosing a student for the Career-Technical Scholarship, a student should have a history of involvement in a career-technical area in the form of classes taken, work experiences, or volunteer experiences. The club’s Scholarship Committee determines which student best fits these criteria through the application and the interview process. The application period has closed.
